Ideological limitations of Eminescu’s journalistic work reception

abstract

Insufficiently known by the public and only partially studied by the exegesis, the journalistic work fulfils the universe of Eminescu’s creation into a unitary image. Without the intention of heightening the value of Eminescu’s journalistic work, we consider that the analysis of the role played by Eminescu in the process of creating an autonomous Romanian journalistic language during the second half of the 19th century and of his contribution to enriching the expression means of the literary language would mark an important step in building a clear perception upon Eminescu’s genius. The identification and the analysis of some labels attached to the publicist Eminescu, labels which have evolved into masks that debase the publicist’s image, by blocking the access to the real essence of Eminescu’s journalistic work, represent the Ariadne’s clew in our text. The „retrograde”, „nationalist”, „xenophobe” and „anti-Semite” masks are argued and taken down by referring to the poet’s manuscripts and to the treatises. We consider that a critical reading of the „masks”, which had been ascribed to the journalist Eminescu, underlines the dangers that could be generated by an interpretation grille, which eludes the socio-historical horizon of the texts.

Insuffisamment connu au publique et partialement étudié par l’exégèse, le journalisme complète l’univers de la création d’Eminescu dans une image unitaire. Sans avoir l’intention de surenchérir la valeur du journalisme, on considère que l’analyse du rôle que Eminescu a joué dans l’autonomie du langage journalistique roumain à la seconde moitié du XIX- ème siècle et dans l’enrichissement des milieux d’expression de la langue roumaine contribue à la formation d’une perception in integrum du génie Eminescu. L’identification et l’analyse des étiquettes annexées au journaliste Eminescu, des étiquettes qui représentent des masques qui mystifient l’image réel du journaliste, en empêchant l’accès à la véritable problématique du journalisme, représentent le fil d’Ariadne dans notre étude. Les étiquettes de „réactionnaire”, „nationaliste”, „xénophobe” et „antisémite” sont analysés et démontés par le recours aux manuscrits du poète et à la littérature de spécialité. On considère que seulement une lecture critique des „masques” attribués au journaliste Eminescu relèvent les périls des certaines interprétations qui éludent l’horizon socio-historique des articles.
